The Basics Of The DiSC Profile Test

By Rebecca Hamilton

This program is a workplace program that helps the manager, employee, and co-employee understand the dynamics that drive them and their co-workers or the people they manage. DiSC profile test helps you build more effective working relationships based on an understanding employees and their different behavioral styles. It is the most trusted paper learning instrument in the industry.

This instrument measures four different aspects of personality of a person. This lets the manager or HR person decide if a potential hire is suitable for the company, or would not fit at all with the company's goals and values. It helps them to assimilate compatible teams in the workforce. This keeps the company working at optimum performance.

This system assesses the employee in four different areas, to find compatible personalities. These areas form the acronym DiSC, hence the name of the system. These four areas are: Dominance- How one addresses problems and challenges; Influence-How one interacts and influences people and contacts; Steadiness-How one deals with pace and consistency; Compliance-How one deals with procedures and constraints. These are factors that impact working relationships in a big way.

Training for this program is for HR people and managers. This training lets them know how it will help their country. The learn techniques for pairing people who will work best together. They are trained as well in how to teach an individual to use this information to become their best. Training includes complete instruction in the model, how to identify company goals and values, and understanding the D, I, S, C acronym means and how it is used.

The training is the most important aspect of using this system. Their are several ways to obtain the training. A person can choose from one or more delivery methods. There is an online, live web presentation. There is also an online presentation that is able to be accessed at any time, at ones own convenience. For those who want to work independently, there is a self-study course. There are several area classes that can be attended. A company can also sponsor a class at their own facility.

This system is perfect for forming teams and pairs to work together. Understanding how the different traits of personality work together, such as the strengths and weaknesses in thing like dominance, influence, steadiness, and compliance, helps when forming viable, working relationships. Also, understanding these will help a pair or team understand how to work together better.

Assessing the different traits can help a person understand their own personalities, and the HR person as well. Exploring the different traits of each can help with this. For example, exploring traits of dominance shows that competitive and determined are traits, as opposed to cautious and agreeable on the other side of that trait. Each trait has such opposites, for example optimistic and trusting as opposed to suspicious and skeptical in the area of influencing. There are sixteen different traits in each of the DiSC personality assessment.

None of the traits are truly negative. It is the way a person uses the traits that determine if they will lead to a working relationship. Compatibility is determined by these traits and ensure a good team. The HR person should share the traits for each person with them so they can make the most of them, and can work on relationships. This will also help them with their personal abilities.
