The FedEx Corporation has created a name for itself in the courier industry by delivering various solutions among people. One reason for its continuous success in the industry is due to its business model where they are able to connect various independent contractors into expanding their operations simultaneously. However, since its enactment, there have been discrepancies regarding this structure which is why the company is currently aiming to change its Independent Contractor framework to an Independent Service Provider structure. First is the change is to create more clarification in the process. In addition, they can choose to arbitrate revision on the latest contract to resolve any pending issues they may have.

If you are currently operating under the old model, there may come a time where you are asked to shift to the ISP framework instead. During this process, CEOs may be asked to undergo a negotiation process which includes a lot of elements. Some of which involve combining ground and home delivery routes, updating your fleet, defining the contracted service areas, and examining the history data that comes with your business operation.

Some of these data include the history of their route plus relevant information. This is to ensure that certain passages remain distinct. Next factor is the average number of packages that they generally deliver on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Another is the exact number of routes they need to make at certain rural areas. All of which are necessary in aiding their negotiation process should they decide to operate under the new framework.

The negotiation process itself can be lengthy and can average to around six weeks which can also be costly.
