Buying Guide For High Efficiency Food Processing Equipment

By Kathleen Brown

Cooking is a delight. In the old days, it used to take so much longer. It used to take so much more energy. Now one can bypass the hard labor and get to the artistic part. High efficiency food processing equipment comes in different forms. From the smaller home appliances to the industrial grade ones. Ones used in bulk manufacturing situations. It is a self-contained unit that minimizes labor. It also decreases waste.

The first thing to think about is capacity. This is how big the machine should be. The home appliances come in as little as 1.4L. Obviously, this will be cheaper than the others. One should choose the capacity according to the size of the intended job. Of course, it will not be bought to be used once. However, one can predict the average size of the jobs this machine will be expected to perform even in the future.

Then come the speed and performance. This is dependent on power. That is wattage. The least to expect for a home appliance is about 400W. It can go over a thousand. Therefore consider exactly how much speed is required. How heavy will the jobs be? See, heavy jobs will require a lot of power. The general rule is the higher the better.

How many blades and discs are provided with the processor? The more the better. They should also come in different shapes and sizes. There will be directions on how to use each blade in the manual obviously. Each blade is assigned to a specific task but some are multi-applicable.

Cleaning is a necessary element in home appliance maintenance. There is no telling the kind of bacteria that could breed if the processor is not properly cleaned. So, is the appliance dishwasher safe? That is, can it be cleaned in the dishwasher or does the cleaning have to be hand-managed? That said while washing or just simply working with it. The machine should have some safety features in place. Like grips for example.

Then think about versatility. Why have a single machine to puree vegetables? Another to mince. Another to grind spices. Why have many appliances when all of these can be done by one single machine? Hence the need for extra attachments. It is advisable to go for more attachments so that the processor can multitask.

Then because things may break even when one is super careful, find out how easy it will be to get spare parts. Find out if there are authorized vendors who can help with repairs and spare parts. Ensure to only go to the authorized though. Be careful not to get a model that looks great but difficult to replace parts for.

Speaking of repairs, check on the warranty. This is a sort of promise that if the equipment has a defect or something happens within a certain amount of time. The company will repair it for free or replace it. The longer the period the better
