Factors Facilitating Generosity In Your Life

By Martha Murphy

There are many kinds of people in the world. Some are very well off while others are not as fortunate. Among the wealthy, some of them are generous and give a big portion of their incomes to charity driven organizations. Others just work for the purposes of gaining wealth for themselves only. The article looks at some of the factors that can help you facilitating generosity in your life.

As much as generosity is giving and expecting nothing in return, there is always a little something you get in return. That is usually emotional satisfaction. Studies reveal that people who give are healthier, happier and have a longer life span. This is major because they are proud of how they can make the world a little better through smaller gestures.

Embracing gratitude is a step in the right direction. This basically means being appreciative of all that you have. People tend to look at all the negative things in life. They never see the good which is a great hindrance towards helping the needy. In short, appreciating what life has to offer is a great way of giving yourself the push you need to help others.

You should start small. The first time you will not be sure if you really want to donate. You may donate as little as possible. If it is a challenge for you to donate a small amount in person, you can always do it anonymously. Thanks to growth in technology, you can now make your donations online, and you never have to cross paths with the people involved.

To make your work easier, you can always opt to donate as soon as you receive your paycheck. This is because if you start by spending, you may spend all of the money as the donation will have slipped your mind. Donating first is the better option. You will never notice the amount you gave away as it will be part of your system each time you get your paycheck.

Another way for you to make donations is to divert expenses. Say, for example, you are used to buying expensive lunch every day. You can cut back on this once every week and opt for a homemade lunch. If you do this for a month, you will be surprised at how much you spend just on lunch. You should save up all that money and donate it at a later date.

If you are not sure on what organization to give to, do not worry. Find the one person you trust or even admire. Observe them for a while. What organizations they are involved with and how often they give. You can do this alongside them. You may also ask them to recommend another organization or help you pick one out.

You can choose to spend time with an already generous person. Inquire from them how it all came to happen and what drove them. Their stories may inspire you too. You may also decide to tone down your life. This means having a good life which is not over the top. You may cut back on some luxuries, and you will have some space to be a generous person.
