A Tasty Treat With Kosher Granola

By Kenneth Morris

Jewish dietary laws are complex but this does not distract from the taste of a food long sort after. Kosher granola offers an exciting replacement to any on the go foodstuffs. It is full meal and can be either eaten with milk, on its own or with yogurt.

There are instructions to be adhered to when producing a product of this kind. All these laws are derived from the Oral Torah as well as the Written Torah. The Torah is the Jewish bible and encompasses both these two and many others. A consumer can be assured that when a product is bought such as this either from a direct supplier or supermarket, if it bears a logo or hechsher from a recognised Rabbinical Authority, then it is one hundred percent valid.

There are some rules that must be followed to ensure it is authentic. The cooking and preparation process must be watched and scrutinized that no other particles enters the cooking or production process. A person called a mashgiach must be present to supervise production and to check it thoroughly. This person must have obtained a certificate from the Jewish Rabbinical Court to provide this service and is well versed in all the laws pertaining to it.

The Hebrew equivalent for a Jewish court of Law is known as the Beth Din. Roughly translated it is called a House of Judgement where all Jewish laws are either approved or denied depending on what is written as permissible and not permissible by the Torah or Jewish Bible. This all costs money so when purchasing, a consumer can expect to pay a little more than for its non kosher equivalent.

Granola has been around for some time and is popular among health enthusiasts, campers, hikers and really all sorts of sport activities or none. It was first conceived of in eighteen sixty three in the city of Dansville, New York. Since its inception it has been consumed on a global level attributing it as one of the best healthy alternatives.

It is a recipe easily undertaken or alternatively can be purchased from any grocery or health shop. Its main ingredients such as oats, seeds, dried fruit and nuts are added with other grains depending on the consumer's taste. It is mixed with syrup, honey or maple syrup and also oil or butter. Kids love it as it is a healthier alternative than purchasing sweets or candy.

All these ingredients and other seeds if one prefers are mixed together in bowl and then laid out in a baking dish for the oven. Care should be taken not to burn the mixture because it is easily done because of its sugar content. Kids love it too and can be added even to a liquidized smoothie.

Combinations of use abound. Other seeds can be used too such as sesame and flax or even sunflower seeds. In most countries in the world, bars of it can be bought for consumption. One must just ensure that the authentication from a Rabbinical Authority is imprinted on the packaging.
