The Three Top Successful Fundraising Ideas For Nonprofits

By Karen Wallace

If you are running a nonprofit organization, it is paramount that you use a tried and successful method of raising money. Some of the activities that these organizations use are individual giving, grants, direct mail, and events. However, at times these methods can start to fail when this happens, then the organization has to be inventive and try to find successful fundraising ideas for nonprofits that they can use.

Though the old methods are useful, these days, it seems like one has to do more if they are to raise money. Test new approaches and find out if they are successful. Though not each method will be successful for each group, the most important thing to do is to test but ensure that the charity is consistent with expanding the fundraising. Here are some ideas that the fundraisers should try.

One of the methods that can be tried is by using small donor groups. Most fundraisers know about the leading donor group, but few or none know about minor donor groups. These refer to the insignificant givers. By grouping them into smaller groups, they are motivated to keep supporting the organization and keep their giving consistently.

Just like the major donor group, it should have a catchy name and a list of membership benefit even if the list is small. However unlike the major group where you can hold meetings once per month or per quarter. You might opt to get only one minor done group meetings annually.

The other ideal method that you can use is the affinity fundraiser method. The relationship is similar to the major and the minor groups. The method entails putting a network of people or organizations that will support the organization and assist you to raise the money. However, these people need to have something in common it could be young mothers, new entrepreneurs, or even professionals like dentists.

Another method that can be used is by using affinity fundraising. Though they are almost like the utilization of the minor and major groups, they differ in operation. Here you establish a network of individuals who will raise funds to support your body. The difference here is that the grouping will compose people will be with something in common for example lawyers and professionals.

Super events are another method that one can use to do a fundraiser. This is where you call many events hosts to hold a little fundraising event on behalf of your charity on the same day, and all should have the same theme. The event can be tied together using conference call or video call, live internet event.

These super events work because they are used to leverage the effort that the organization makes. For instance, the amount of time that one would spend supporting host who holds small amounts might not be worth the effort. However, with the super events, it is possible to support networks that are raising money for our group and get higher returns.
